JOB SUMMARY:

 

Provide financial information and analysis to the Controller, Executives and other internal and external customers.  Follow general accounting practices and procedures to prepare and review standard and non-standard accounting transactions.  Manage budget and forecast process. Conduct financial report analysis and reporting.

 

Job Details:Reports to:  Controller/Location:  Frederick, MD / Regular Hours:  Monday-Friday.  8-5 (may be extended during closing or audit period). Flexible Hours avail.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 

  • Develop, improve and maintain budget and projection processes for internal and external reporting.
  • Assist in completion of the month-end results close process:
  • Prepare and post standard and non-standard journal entries,
  • Analyze, research and review unusual entries or balances,
  • Prepare or review standard month-end reports and presentations, distribute within deadlines,
  • Provide analysis of variances or deviations from the approved budgets or forecasts to analyze performance
  • Maintain records of financial documents with appropriate supporting material.
  • Develop and provide accounting-related reports, advice, and counsel to internal employees
  • Develop, or improve, and financial reporting for various business units.
  • Assist in supplying information for the annual independent Certified Public Accountant's audit of financial records.
  • Adhere to internal controls requirements and maintain documentation required for SOX compliance.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to support organization projects.  Collaborate and coordinate cross-functional teams as necessary.
  • Assist in payroll accounting/management.
  • Other related duties as required.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

 

Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in business, accounting and budgeting required.

Broad working knowledge of various accounting standards and guidelines preferred which may include, but not limited to: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States of America (US GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOx), International Accounting Standards (IAS), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATION:

 

  • Industrial accounting related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/CPA (or other accreditation) preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to execute plans and meet deadlines are essential in this role.
  • A high level of accuracy is also critical to success in this role.
