At Werres Corporation, serving our communities means investing our time and resources in the people and organizations working to make them stronger.

This summer, Werres employees supported hunger-relief efforts in two of the regions we serve through contributions to Feed More in Richmond, Virginia, and Blessings in a Backpack in Frederick, Maryland.

Together, these efforts helped prepare more than 3,550 meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity. They also gave our employees an opportunity to work side by side in support of neighbors throughout Central Virginia and Frederick County.

Supporting Feed More in Central Virginia

On July 21, Werres employees volunteered at Feed More’s Bayard Community Kitchen in Richmond. During the event, the team contributed a combined 28 volunteer hours and helped prepare more than 3,000 meals.

Feed More collects, prepares and distributes food throughout Central Virginia through its Community Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, hunger-relief programs and a network of more than 380 community partners. The organization serves 34 cities and counties across the region.

The need is significant. Feed More reports that more than 165,000 people within its service area face food insecurity, including more than 50,500 children.

Packing Weekend Meals for Frederick County Students

On August 11, Werres welcomed Blessings in a Backpack to our Frederick headquarters for an employee meal-packing event.

Werres team members packed 550 meals for children in Frederick County who may otherwise face hunger when school meals are unavailable.

The Frederick Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack provides weekend food to local students experiencing food insecurity. During the 2025–2026 school year, the organization provided 117,500 hunger-free weekends for 3,400 children across 32 program locations.

Access to dependable nutrition supports more than a child’s physical health. It helps students return to school ready to focus, learn and participate. By bringing the packing event directly to our Frederick office, employees were able to make a practical contribution to children and families in the community where Werres has been headquartered for decades.
