Utility Vehicle Service Technician Opportunity

The Utility Vehicle Service Technician position is a full-time, hourly position in the Service Department. 

Hours worked are Monday – Friday, with flexible scheduling to accommodate Customer requirements. Over-time and weekends may be required.

The Service Manager directly supervises the Utility Vehicle Service Technician.

Primary Responsibilities of the Utility Vehicle Service Technician

  • To maintain, service, repair and support specific electric utility vehicles; mainly Cushman, Go-4, Motrec, and Vantage, on customers’ job sites, in a timely and cost-effective manner with emphasis on complete customer satisfaction.

Skills and Personal Characteristics of the Utility Vehicle Service Technician

  • High school diploma and 1 - 2 years experience with light duty, heavy duty or other equipment diagnosis and repair preferred.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills.  Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, management and co-workers. 
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Ability to read and understand necessary service and training manuals.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or demonstrated instructions.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment to diagnose and implement repairs. 
  • Ability to maintain a good understanding of industry innovations and product availability in order to make recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Demonstrate good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds constantly, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
  • Ability to safely operate personal hand tools.

Main Tasks of the Utility Vehicle Service Technician

  • Diagnose and repair all types of electric utility vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on customer vehicles and fleet inventory.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Complete all required paperwork and time records accurately and completely following mobile tech procedures as directed by management.
  • Follow safety rules and ensure that hazardous waste is disposed of properly.
  • Develop and maintain positive, effective working relationship with Customers and co-workers.
  • Attend company meetings and training classes as required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Able to search computer generated parts and maintenance manuals to order replacement parts and view diagnostic procedures.  
  • Maintain parts and supplies inventory on assigned vehicle.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle to ensure it is clean, organized and hazard free inside and out.
  • Assure regular maintenance is performed on assigned vehicle and that required repairs are performed and properly documented.
  • Responsible for having a valid driver’s license and maintaining a clean motor vehicle record in accordance with company policy.
  • Responsible for providing personal tools as required for performing the job effectively and safely.  Specialty tools provided.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and free of clutter and keeping tools clean and in good repair.
  • Responsible for following Customer’s safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at Customer site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
